"Our bodies actually remember bad things that happen to us, and consequently, those traumatic memories stay in the short term memory 'filing cabinet', and that's why they have that real sort of immediacy. It can feel as though they are still happening, or happening right now."
"That's what EMDR does - it works with those memories and helps to get them along the 'conveyor belt' and filed away in the long term memory 'filing cabinet'."
